Protecting workers from extreme heat

Recognizing the seriousness of the threat posed by heat, Operation Heat Shield is taking immediate action on heat hazards to protect workers.

It is a multiple-prong initiative on occupational heat exposure to protect workers across all sectors including electric utility, agriculture, mining, constructions, transportation as well as indoor workers including those in warehouses, factories and kitchens.

It includes advancing new workplace heat standards to ensure equitable protection to all workers in all workplaces across Ontario in the form of heat stress thresholds, heat acclimatization planning, exposure monitoring and others.
